I have been buying, improving, building, designing and selling homes since 1981. I have been involved with these projects from design to finished product. Yes that included working with licenses, permits and holding a hammer. Some projects were as small as updates or as large as a 20 bed commercial building. All this was done on the side of full time careers. My first job was in the restaurant business for 11 years. My experience here taught priority management of time and good communication skills with customers. My next career move was in the automotive industry. I began as a line worker and worked my way to a technician and a supervisory position. This career reinforced my communication skills while developing skills in data gathering and documentation. I spent 15 years with this career path. Then I used retirement funds to purchase a 4 bed Adult Foster Care Home, for which I licensed for 6 and grew to 32 beds over 13 years, before selling. I lived with these clients 24/7. I was able to utilize all the other skills I learned in previous positions and reinforce them with Love, Compassion, Honesty, and Integrity. Then bought a 5 unit resort on Houghton Lake with the idea of flipping. While retreating to the area while working on the project, Hubby and I fell in love with the area. Needless to say we stayed. Of course this initiated yet another career move. What better career move is there, that could utilize all the skills grown in my various past careers and side projects?
